Bought by Nelson couple Ekkehardt and Malia Klinge in 2012, Victory Square was a national finalist in the 2013 Best Chip Shop awards, having won its regional title. The business jointly won the regional title under its previous owners in 2011 and was a regional finalist in 2010.

As well as serving excellent fish and chips, a bonus for customers is the chance to nip next door for a craft beer at the Sprig & Fern while waiting for your order. Highly commended in the regional section of the Best Chip Shop competition in 2013. The owners use separate fryers for their fish and chips to ensure they each maintain their flavour, and they use canola oil.

Centrally located, this is a traditional fast food outlet with fish and chips and burgers as its main fare but also serves local favourites such as blue cod. Joint winners of the regional Best Chip Shop title in 2011.

Situated across the road from the beach, this popular shop offers treats such as blue cod. A past finalist in the Best Chip Shop competition in 2010.
